"I started training with Suzina a few years ago because I felt I needed to get fit. I wasn't the most enthusiastic exerciser but Suzina persevered and introduced me to all sorts of exercise. Half heartedly a year ago I decided I needed to lose some weight and I asked her to get me running. My first run only lasted two minutes but she continued to encourage me and 9 months on I have shed 5 stone of fat and gained a stone in muscle and at 50 I'm in the best shape I have ever been.
Yesterday Suzi ran my first race with me - 5km in 28 mins to the absolute amazement of my family and friends who had blithely agreed to double my sponsorship if I came in under 30 mins in every belief I wouldn't!!! Over the past months I have noticed a change in my body shape and my upper body strength has improved.
When I left school all the physiotherapy, swimming and physical exercise I had suddenly stopped. I did go swimming with my Dad but he became very ill and could not take me anymore.

Changed my lifestyle
"I teamed up with Suzina over four years ago when my weight was just shy of 20 stone. I was unfit and had high blood pressure. In the early days I went to various diet classes and did lose weight but the weight loss was not sustainable as when I felt good about myself the old diet returned. It must have been very frustrating for Suzi who stuck with me and gave me every encouragement. My weight returned to 20 stone and I had to dust down all those old suits that I had hoped I would never have to wear again. I made the decision 18 months ago to have another go but I knew that I had to change my eating (and drinking) habits for ever and keep doing the work-outs.
